Canadians Go Canuck Crazy – game five.
Dateline:
Friday, June 10th
Vancouver
Corner of Granville and Robson Streets.
It was game five and winning this game put the Canucks ahead three games to two in the roller-coaster seven game contest for the Stanley Cup. I was walking cross town to a reception opening TBEX, a travel bloggers conference, and walked right through the epicentre of the excitement.
The Canucks have never won the cup. The trophy that originates in Canada, donated by Lord Stanley, the representative of Her Majesty Queen Victoria of Canada in 1892, has not been in the country since 1993 when Montreal won. According to Vancouverites, and many Canadians, it’s time to bring it home.
Only time will tell. But, whatever happens, these people will remember the parties’ more than the outcome.
