I do agree that confidence as well as intelligence / street smarts make a person sexy and those are both things that solo travellers either have when they start out, or pick up along the way from the experiences.

In my eyes, the most beautiful destination for travel is Spain. I like Madrid, Barcelona and all other cities. Very beautiful country.

Oh I like Italy most of all. The beautiful nature, the kind people, the nice atmosphere. Everything is so nice and I can tell that Italy is my second home. Amazing country.

Thanks Keith. Yes, I think your point is well taken. The question is can I accomplish what I hoped.

While all the practical tools may be intact where I’m going, the social setting will be completely different than usual. I was going to experience and write about a place that all could enjoy. I can accomplish that down the road but not now. And, down the road, my tourist dollars will still be welcome and my potential for encouraging more tourist dollars from readers will be better.

I think the decision depends on your reason for going. At this point I believe much of the infrastructure is functioning. If you can accomplish what you hoped and not hinder relief efforts, Chile would love to have your tourist dollars.

I think you are right to wait. I met some adorable boys playing marbles when I was there and have thought so much about them. I’m sure it would be hard to meet the people under these stressful times. Better to wait.. but do go as soon as you can to support the tourism of the country.

In the second week of my RTW I experienced an earthquake of 6.4 in Costa Rica. It occurred at 2am one night. Suddenly, we all found ourselves on the street with no power in town. A complete change from the party that abruptly ended.

Thankfully no one was hurt, but I felt different for days. Felt helpless that night. What did help was comforting others and being together. That night changed my perspective.
