Fun day as a solo traveller
I met a young woman at an HI Hostel in San Francisco. We made a connection right off.
She asks me, ” What are you planning to do tomorrow?”
My reply, ” Ride across the Golden Gate Bridge on a bike”
Her response, ” Can I come too.”
We cruised along the Fisherman’s Wharf area the next morning after hiring bikes from a firm called ” Blazing Saddles”. We set off and had an exciting ride across the bridge ending up in a beautiful bayside town called Sausalito. We bought a hamburger cooked on a wood fired Barbeque in the shop. Delicious.
We built a cairn out of the rocks that line San Francisco Bay, browsed all the interesting galleries and shops and then lined up with fellow travelers to catch the Ferry back across the bay passing Alcatraz. The the ferry was followed by a mass of aquatic craft in all the colours of the rainbow.
A magical travel day.
