It’s a funny thing… flying.

This is one of those posts that has a little in it for me, a little in it for you and a lot for a good cause.

True, I’m making money for publishing this. But I’m also giving you an opportunity to win some laughs in the sky. Yes. Really! And this is, in effect, a bonus to my regular schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday posts.

Enough explaining. Here’s the scoop.

British Airways are teaming up for a year-long partnership with Comic Relief to deliver a real comic treat – one which has never been done before — and support disadvantaged children at home and abroad at the same time.

On Saturday the 12th of March, Dara O’Briain, Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson will be setting the record for the ‘Highest Stand-Up Comedy Gig in the World’. It is part of a wider campaign by British Airways called ‘Flying Start‘, which aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged children. It’s a great concept.

You can be one of 75 lucky people flying over the UK in this inaugural flight.

Enjoy two-and-a-half hours of stand-up for charity – including champagne and refreshments – for free.

Text ‘Fly1′ to 70300 or visit www.facebook.com/britishairways to enter the competition. Full terms and conditions are available from the Facebook page.

I wish you the best of luck. Flying British Airways is great under normal circumstances. To participate in an event like this would provide one of those memories that are treasured.

I love BA. I once won an onboard contest that let me sit in the jumpseat in the cockpit of a 747SP as it landed at Heathrow at dawn on Christmas morning. I can still remember the view out the front window. Yes, that happened a LONG time ago, but it’s still one of the memorable experiences of my life. How lucky am I?
