The Gift of Travel… and 12 More
Yes, travel is a gift.
Those of us who have the privilege to travel are fortunate in many ways. For me, the good fortune of travel is, ultimately, about learning.
I am an experiential learner. Yes, I’ve gone the academic route – I did a degree in history just five years ago - but the book learning doesn’t really come to life until I see a place and its geography, watch the people and their culture and drown out the impressions created by the media with personal experiences.
As I travel, it’s mostly about the fun of meeting people. But, for me, the long term gift I receive from travel is understanding the world a little better every time I go.
Win 1 of 12 Gifts
Today I have 12 Gifts to give away.
All you have to do to qualify is leave a comment below sharing what you consider to be a gift of travel. It doesn’t have to be profound or unique. It simple has to reflect how you feel.
Here’s how it works:
Time – you have all Sunday to leave your comment. You can only leave one.
Winners – I’ll use random.org to select 12 winning comments.
Gifts – I’ll send you your gifts on Monday. The eBooks will arrive quickly. The CDs within the week in North America or possibly a bit longer if beyond.
The 12 Gifts
I am gifting four eReader copies of “The Solo Traveler’s Handbook“, four eReader copies of “How to Become the Jack of All Travel: A Beginner’s Guide to Traveling the World for Free” by Jacqueline Boss of Escape Normal and four CDs by Meaghan Smith called “It Snowed“.
So go ahead… leave a comment. I hope it’s just one more gift you’ll receive this year.
Oh, and I plan for a number of special online events for Solo Traveler in 2012. To stay up to date with those and receive a weekly round-up of the posts on Solo Traveler, why not sign up for the newsletter. Just drop your email address in the box here:
