Hill Stations in India
In the fall of 2008, I did the public train and bus thing in India and went to three hill stations north of Delhi. It was a trip I will not forget. The sweet-strange smell of India is forever etched in my scent memory. Here are some highlights:
Dharamsala
This hill station is famous because it is where the Tibetan government is in exile. It was crowded, lots of yoga…
Manali
This was my favorite hill station – hands down.
It is orchard country, and Manali and beyond… settled in a valley with mountains surrounding the area.
There is hiking, parasailing, skiing and other pursuits for outdoorsy people.
Old Manali was where its at. The Orchard House was a great place to stay – +91+1902-254123 or email thepeak21@yahoo.co
Shimla
Shimla was a very lively, bustling place. “The Mall” was where everyone hung out. The views were spectacular. The statue of Indira Ghandi and The Indian Institute of Advanced Studies are worth checking ou
Added bonus: I had food poisoning on the flight home from Delhi. 15 hours of fun. Folks, the bathroom became my seat on the plane – it was a character-building experience. A wonderful lady on the plane nursed me back to life. Thank you, wherever you are….
Until next time,
Liz
