The Medieval City of Peniscola in the Land of Valencia
Peniscola is sometimes called the Gibraltar of Valencia. It’s a fortress on a headlands established at the beginning of the 14th century.
Climbing the winding stone-embedded streets through whitewashed buildings with iron railed balconies is worth it for the experience in iteself but especially for the view from the top.
Of course, juxtaposed to this historic fortress is a modern city as well as beautiful beaches that take advantage of a choice position on the Spanish Mediterranean.

The Castle was built by the Knights of the Templar on the remains of an Arab citadel. It later became a papal palace for Benedict XIII.
