Pic of the Week: Mystery Church with Tulips

The Pic of the Week is drawn from photos submitted to the Solo Travel Society Facebook Group, providing an opportunity for solo travelers to share with us a favorite photo from their travels.

This week’s pic by Solo Travel Society member Scott was taken…well, we’re not sure where. Scott has been traveling solo for a long time, and has taken so many beautiful photos along the way, that he couldn’t quite place this one. It was taken in 1982, perhaps in France or Belgium. Do you recognize it? If so, please help us identify the Mystery Church!

    Thank you all for your help with locating this (reminding me:) . . . Brussels is a real possibility . . . spent a month there after my six months in India in ’82 . . . never went to Chartres . . . or Austria . . . Brugge, possibly . . . spent some time there . . . I’m leaning to someplace in Brussels . . .

    I have a few pictures of gorgeous red tulips in Tokyo and this picture reminds me of those. They look amazing in front of the church. I am going to guess Chartres cathedral in France.

    Something about this instantly made me think of Brugge so I poked about a little and found it in not in Brugge but in Laeken, Brussels.

    I’m pretty sure this is the Votiv Church in Vienna, Austria. The German name for it is “Votivkirche”.
