“You Have a Friend in Me” Slideshow

I met Noemie on the Navimag ferry, then cancelled all my refugio bookings, rented a tent and camped with her in Torres del Paine, Patagonia.

Paul is a most hospitable Liverpudlian. I met him in the morning, then he took the afternoon off work to make sure that I really enjoyed my time at the Cavern club.
I travel solo because I grow in knowledge, confidence and character. Yes, solo travel has contributed greatly to who I am as a person.
But, when I’m out there, it is the people I meet that make all that learning and character building worthwhile.
They are the fun of my travels.
At the beginning of the year I met Noemie on board a ferry in Patagonia. On my last trip of the year I met Paul in front of the famous Cavern club in Liverpool. They are like bookends for my year of travels. They stand out for their energy and enthusiasm for life. Of course, there were others who were important. Claude (whose age Noemie and I could not guess), for his take-on-the-world attitude. And Mahmoud, my tour guide in Jordan. And so many others.
Here’s a post about Noemie, How to Travel Solo to Patagonia: Top 10 Tips and another about Paul, My Magical Mystery Tour – it’s not what you think.
And here are the smiling faces of many in today’s slideshow.
On Friday I have another slideshow for you, this time on the man-made structures, old and new, that amazed me this year.
