Languages spoken: Konkani, Marathi, English, Hindi
Reasons to go: Goa is a beautiful mix of Indian and slight European culture with Portuguese flair. It’s a different experience from the rest of India in that you might feel a bit more relaxed and free to be yourself as opposed to many other areas where closer attention needs to be paid to cultural differences, yet respect as always still needs to be shown.
I found Goa’s tropical climate and beach culture to be beautiful and I fell in love with it. I was there in September but I can only imagine how much more enjoyable it would be during higher season in December/January if you’re looking to meet other travelers. I suggest going to Anjuna Beach and the night market in Arpora.
