Solo Travel Destination: Montreal
Solo Travel Destinations: this is the first post in what will become a new section on Solo Traveler. I’m hoping that, like the Pic of the Week, it will be taken over by members of the Solo Travel Society on Facebook as a way for us to share information on various locations as solo travel destinations. I’ll refine the format for a few posts then open the doors with a simple form for you to share your favorite solo travel destinations.

Reasons to go: Montreal is famous for shopping, the Arts and wonderful food. The restaurants are excellent. While it is in North America, the Quebec culture is quite different and makes a perfect destination for those wanting to break away from the usual but not fly for several hours. There are many festivals throughout the year, winter and summer, that are worth taking in such as the famous Just for Laughs Comedy Festival (Juste pour Rire) and the Montreal Jazz Festival. The city is very safe and it’s very easy to walk the core. Old Montreal is great for dinner and to get a flavor of the history of this city. For highlights that are a little further afield there is the Metro (subway) which covers a lot of ground and is quite easy to navigate.
Please add your thoughts on this destination in the comments below.
Also, I’d love your thoughts on the concept of a Solo Travel Destination section and the rating chart I’ve designed. I want to keep the chart simple but useful.
