Solo Travel Destination: Wulai, Taiwan
We are pleased to present a new Solo Travel Destination Post from Mahadi, a member of the Solo Travel Society on Facebook. Mahadi is from Singapore, and submitted the following report about Wulai. Do you have a solo travel destination that you would like to recommend? Submit your description here, along with a few photos, and share it with fellow travelers!
Solo travel rating: 1.5 (1 is easiest, 4 is most difficult. Please see chart below)
Languages spoken: Mandarin, English
Reasons to go: Wulai is the great green picturesque Chinese style mountain background like those seen in kung fu movies. The area is famous for its free hot springs by the river bank, hiking trails and waterfalls, the largest being Wulai Falls.
This area is also home to the Atayal people and you can enjoy their aboriginal history, culture, and food. They sell woven clothing, hats, baskets, and rice wine in shops on the main street. I recommend trying the sticky rice cakes, candies and home grown coffee.
