The Taj Mahal – it’s real.

Entrance to Taj Mahal.

Somehow, I never thought that I would see the Taj Mahal.

It seemed beyond the possible. The beauty. The grandeur. Before going, it was like it didn’t really exist. It was a mythological place beyond the grasp of mortals.

But, of course, it was on my list of ‘must-see’ locations in India. And, for some reason, when the prospect of seeing it was real, my expectations were low. I didn’t think it could be anything like the pictures suggest.

And then, looking through the portal, I could make out a portion of a white building. And once on the other side, I saw it. And it is truly grand. I expected that an hour or so would be enough to see a building but three passed quickly just drinking in the sight. As I walked the long path to leave, I was still surprised by its magnificence each time I glanced back.

Stunning Taj Mahal

First glimpse of the Taj Mahal through the gate.

And through the gates, there it was. The Taj Mahal.

The carving and mosaic details are amazing.

Taj Mahal - beautiful at every angle.

Yes. I was there.

It seems that I think along the same lines as you. It seems that I have always wanted o see the Taj Mahal, and yet when I think about actually going to see it I feel like there is no way it can be as amazing as I think it is. I mean, how can I justify a trip to India when all I want to see is one large building?! But your reaction to seeing it just makes me feel like maybe I am just nervous about going to India. The Taj Mahal  just seems so amazing from afar, I can’t imagine how stellar it is up close. Thank you for renewing my excitement about seeing it one day!

    Very beautiful pictures!
You are right The Taj Mahal is indeed very beautiful, and everything related to it. Time passes easily there. You are lucky that you covered it.

The Taj . . . I can’t say enough about it . . . but when all is said and done, I never even get close . . . so, I’ll stick with silence :)

Wow, your pictures are awesome and it must be an amazing site. Certainly one of my bucket-list items! It looks like it is so imposing against a flat landscape.
