Curious about what was most read on Solo Traveler in June? I was. It has been a very busy month and I wrote two solo travel series; one on danger and the other on tips for women traveling alone.

Between parts 1 and 2 of Women Traveling Alone I offered a post on tips for men traveling alone. There had been a grumble on Twitter by a guy who said that bloggers write lots for women travelers but little for men.  So, with the help of a male travel blogger, I wrote a piece.

This was the surprise. The post for men was read more than the ones for women. Maybe there are more men out there looking for information than the travel blogging community thinks.

So, here’s the line up… the five most popular posts on Solo Traveler in June:

Solo Travel Danger Part II: Caught in a Con Game

How to Travel Alone Without Being Lonely

Solo Travel Danger Part I: Kindness of Strangers

Men Traveling Alone: 10 tips

Women Traveling Alone: 10 tips

Please remember, I do take requests. If you’d like a specific topic on how to travel alone covered or you would like information on a certain destination, send me an email at info@solotravelerblog.com. If I don’t have the information you need, I can generally find a travel blogger who does. I try to publish request posts within a few weeks.

Hi Kim, I’m so glad these articles are useful for you.

While it may not have been a gourmet meal I had, you might find my post The Solo Traveler Advantage interesting. In it I describe how I prefer to dine alone and how, one time, it got me a free meal!

I liked the post about how to travel alone without being lonely. Most of the time when I travel alone I have no problems meeting new people and finding my way around. Often I’ll join up with my new friends or sometimes choose to go on to new places by myself because I actually enjoy the solitude. But I still have trouble with one thing – eating dinner alone. I love a good gourmet meal but have to fight myself to go sit alone at a table. These kinds of articles make it just a little easier for me to take the leap!

I like the articles on safety while traveling solo. I have friends who don’t use computers, so I print the articles out for them because we all need to know these things while traveling; as well as when we’re just around home.

I think the article about men traveling alone was the best. Many men believe they are strong and invincible and then run into trouble when something happens away from the support of home and family/friends. The articles about being conned were scary but you just always need to listen to your inner voice and keep your wits about you at all times.

Can’t wait to try my first solo trip next month. I did a semi-solo last year in Germany, but this one is totally solo! Your articles are a great help!

This post (the kindness of strangers) was my favorite and the most heartwarming.

The Con Game article was fascinating and I appreciated the information. I found How to Travel Alone Without Being Lonely the most helpful.

They are all great posts — the con game post freaked me out, but my favourite is about men travelling alone. I’m not a man, but I love the idea of bringing duct tape. I’m going to put a roll in my suitcase for my next trip.

I especially like the post about traveling alone without being lonely. Another thing I do is bring along a travel journal, and write in it often. I’ve heard of others that stay in touch by going to internet cafes and keeping up with their travel blogs. Now that I’ve started a blog, I’m sure I’ll do this on my next trip, but I still like my journal. :)
