Monday and Tuesday of this week I went to the biggest travel event in the world. I felt like a kid in a candy store as I visited the World Travel Market, had meetings with tourism professionals, watched as this years World Tourism Awards were presented, attended two travel tweet-ups and went to Travel Bloggers Camp. It was a very full two days. Here’s a pictorial account…
- Anita Singh Soin (left), director of IBEX Expeditions,India, and her daughter. IBEX won a 2009 National Geographic Award for Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth. We had a great conversation and discussed a future trip to India.

Traditional food was on offer at the Korean stand. It was excellent and, with the fair being so busy, a great way to save time by dodging the long concession line-ups..
Chile is on my list for the coming year so I had a couple of good chats at their booth.
This is a picture taken at one of the Tweet-ups by @andrewghayes of Sharing Travel Experiences and Travel Online Partners. Left to right: @lynnerosie, me, @501places and @velvetescape (Apologies for my silly face.)
Congratulations to Bruce Poon Tip, founder of GAP Adventures. Here he is accepting a World Tourism Award.
I have no pictures of the actual Travel Bloggers Camp but here’s one from the balcony. Thanks for Darren of Travel Rants for organizing the event.
Returning back to my hotel after the Travel Bloggers Camp the London Underground was unusally empty.
Me with Keith of the Velvet Escape blog and Velvet Connect on our way to one more breakfast meeting.
After that meeting I went and toured London.
More to come on this complete trip that included Cambridge, the Lake District and Bath in future posts.
