Travel Solo: If not now, when?

Screen shot 2010 12 30 at 8.44.43 PM Travel Solo: If not now, when?

My husband and son goofing around outside our apartment in Switzerland.

Why do I have a father and son picture on a post that’s called “Travel Solo: if not now, when?”?  Well, I don’t have a solo travel story that demonstrates my point as well so, we’ll go with this one.

This picture is of my late husband and youngest son in 2001 in Switzerland when we were on our 10 month trip through Europe. The story that goes with it was probably the most important that I wrote in 2010. It is the final Flashback Post of the season.

The story is called Should I Stay or Should I Go? I wrote it to explain why I hosted Meet Plan Go in Toronto in September.  I wrote it to urge people with the desire to travel long term, to act on that desire. Likewise, I believe that if you want to take off and travel solo, you should. You should do it as soon as possible. After all, if not now, when?

Today’s Flashback Post:

Should I Stay or Should I Go

On Tuesday we’ll have new content for you again, starting with my New Year’s post with contributions from six amazing travelers. In the month of January the theme on Solo Traveler will be trip planning.

Totally agree! If not now, when?

Speaking of Meet, Plan, Go, I was able to attend the Philly leg. I got the chance to have a quick chat with Teresa of Art of Backpacking and I mentioned how’d it be so cool to have an Asian leg of MPG.

Should you plan to do one, http://www.offbeatwanders.com would love to be one of support groups.

I actually have this quote on a bookmark. In addition to travel, it’s a great reminder for a lot of life’s goals. Hope you had a wonderful start to the New Year. =)
