Traveling alone in beautiful, historic Bath

Roman Baths with Bath Abbey in Background 225x300 Traveling alone in beautiful, historic BathSome go to Bath to capture bit of Jane Austen’s sensibility and bask in the fabulous 18th century architecture.

Some go to Bath for the shopping. High street chain stores as well as unique antique, gift and fashion shops make it a destination for shoppers. (I must confess to buying a pair of boots.)

But, I traveled alone to Bath for the baths.

Don’t get me wrong, there is much to recommend in this beautiful, historic city. There’s the Mayor’s Guides Free Walking Tour that gives you a history of the city and a good walk around all the highlights. There’s the  Bath Abbey and Pump Room for a bit of historic extravagance. And two great spots for good value and atmosphere are The Bathtub Bistro andThe Raven pub. But what I enjoyed the most was soaking up some history in the Roman Baths. Here’s a slide show that starts out in the Roman Baths and gives you a few more pics of Bath as well.

I lived in Bath for a year and a half and never visited the Roman Baths by night!

I might have to come back :)

I’m no longer there. Wish I was, the comedy walk sounds great. Thanks for adding these tips for others to have.

If you’re still in Bath, you MUST do the Bath Comedy Walk! http://www.bizarrebath.co.uk/

I was there alone a couple of years ago the tour was a blast! Also, if you have the time and a little extra money, take a couple of hours out to have a swim in the Thermae Bath Spa. It’s money well spent!

    Have fun. I’m jealous.
