Solo travel safety
Solo travel safety: government registries.
Had the Chilean earthquake happened a week later or my flight been a week earlier… well, it has me thinking about the government registry for travelers.

Solo Traveler is a blog for all of us who love (or struggle) to travel on our own. We’re a group of bloggers located around the world that range in age from 23 to 68. Our style of travel varies from luxury to backpacking. We’re here to share our experiences — to offer solo travel tips, advice, stories, inspiration, destinations, ponderings and reflections — and to hear and learn from you. We hope you enjoy!
Claudia – I’m into my third age now (what we call retirement in Australia). I took my first solo trip in my late 40’s. I travelled well and widely as a duo but find going solo is freedom at its best. Art is one of my passions and I am focusing on “Art Calleries of the World” I must see before I die — I’ve been to 20 so far. I’m into books, gardens and all things positive.
Ffion – There’s a saying: you come into the world alone and you go out of the world alone. that’s what life is all about – we are always solo travelers. And sometimes, we get lucky enough to share the journey with people who become lovers, travel mates, and lifelong friends
Janice – I have traveled solo many times. I visited eastern Europe before the wall fell and after. I have been in tight spots made by strangers and been the beneficiary of great kindness from same. Travel has been a constant source of wonder, education, fun and confidence. I enjoy the freedom of freelance writing. Now, I incorporate what I love with what I’m good at in the Solo Travel Society.
I’m a backpacker with a serious case of the travel bug. I have an insatiable desire to discover new cultures, see jaw-dropping sights, meet interesting people and eat delicious food. And when I venture away from home, I like to go solo – it allows me to travel on my own terms without compromise.
Keith -I’m a thirty-something based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Travel and writing are my biggest passions. I’ve traveled extensively across 60+ countries on five continents. My experiences from traveling alone have been the most enriching. You can read more about my adventures on my blog, the Velvet Escape.

Liz – I broke the seal of solo travel a few years ago and have never looked back. Currently I live in Toronto and have a passion for experimental cooking, dreams of seeing the mountains in Japan, and hang out with my loved ones. Click here to follow me on Twitter.
Rusty – I am a life long resident of the southwest USA, having lived in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado, with extended periods in the French Caribbean. My passions are to travel, photograph and chronicle my journeys. A trip leader since I was 17 years old, leading friends on sailing and diving adventures off the California coast. I have since covered large swaths of the planet discovering many unique and wonderful places that forever remain in my heart. I continue to add to these destinations each year.

Sean - I left America in 2008 after graduating from university and moved to China to travel and teach English. I write about travel and life on my website World Resolution. You can follow me on Twitter.
